It is hard to figure what exactly Warner Bros think they have got with the upcoming animated dance-a-thon Happy Feet. Though early buzz suggested that the film was just OK and that Robin Williams dominant roles could get on moviegoers nerves, Warner Bros continues to promote this film like a summer tentpole.
The latest addition comes in the form of a featurette, which gives audiences an inside look at what it takes to animate and capture the sound of dancing penguins. Since the dancing and music serve as the major perks to the film, this type of work better be spot on.
Happy Feet Featurette: Creating the Tap
Warner Bros has brought in the best tap dancer on the planet to create the sounds they need for the penguin tap routines. The character Mumble has the great Savion Glover recording his advanced tap routines. The rest of the penguins? Well, they have a whole crew of performing dancers on set with Glober in the lead. These dancers had to go through a 'penguin school' to create the sound the film needed.
Even Glover needed some advice on becoming a penguin.
