It seems as if the world has seen the last of Keira Knightley’s pirate days. The Oscar nominated British bombshell, seemingly too sophisticated for mere mortals I might add, has chosen to leave the Pirates series for good now that filming for the third installment, At World’s End, has finally been completed.

Not gone for good is the brilliant Johnny Depp, as the dilapidated pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow. He said that he would stay on for further sequels as long as the writing was good enough to keep someone like Johnny Depp from relieving himself on the script. After all, it’s in Depp’s interest to “like” any script even if it was written in Ancient Greek since Depp is receiving added incentives due to the simple fact that he's getting a piece of the proverbial and profitable, Jack Sparrow merchandising pie.
During the excessively long shoot for At World’s End, Keira found herself being nominated for Best Actress Academy Award for her role in Pride and Prejudice and also filmed Atonement with director Joe Wright.
According to England’s Daily Mail Keira said, "I'm 21 now and I'm onto very different things, but it's fun to try to invest Elizabeth with some rebellious spirit. But what I'm doing in Atonement is very different. I mean, she is a grown-up woman!"
Rumor has it that her performance in Atonement will not just leave high school boys ogling at her looks but we could be talking Oscar nods as well this time next year.
Atonement is not the only thing on Knightley’s plate. She will also be starring in Francois Girard's picture Silk, in which she portrays the wife of a silk merchant. Sounds about as gripping as watching grass grow but hey, it’s Keira Knightly. We’ll be watching.
Hopefully Lindsay Lohan will keep her greasy, classless influence away from Keira as the two start filming The Best Time of Our Lives in April. Unless The Best Time of Our Lives is about two unassuming girls exploring their sexuality together one stolen summer long ago.
