The debate continues on whether Harry will die in the seventh and last book for the Potter franchise and, though we continue to hope that all questions are solved by this July, cast and crew continue to weigh in on the idea. Radcliffe, who has returned to the spotlight thanks to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, has recently discussed the possibility of Harry's death and completely agrees with it.
Potter Updates: Harry's Death, Yates' Return
Assuming Dan Radcliffe to be filthy rich by the time he finishes the seventh installment of Harry Potter, it is not like the actor needs the franchise to continue forever. Because of this, Radcliffe shows his unbiased opinion while discussing Harry Potter with Sci Fi Wire. When asked if he plans to play the death of Harry in the currently-unnamed seventh Potter installment, Radcliffe remains optimistic.
"That's a very good question. ... I like to think that I will. ... I think, personally, ... that's the only way [author J.K. Rowling] could ever halt any call for her to keep writing [Potter books], because, I mean, if Harry survives, she'll just be getting plagued by requests to write an eighth book for the rest of her life."
Well, good to see he is looking out. The actor also mentions a theory that has been online for some time.
"I think it will be something to do with the fact that ... maybe the only way Voldemort can be killed is if Harry is killed as well."
This would suggest that Radcliffe agrees that Harry's scar -- or he himself -- is also a horcrux, something that must be destroyed before Voldemort can be vanquished.
For the second Potter update, it turns out that the recent report that Columbus will return to Harry Potter is false. Or, at least it doesn't look like he will be able to direct Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. According to Production Weekly, David Yates will immediately return to direct the sixth Potter installment. What do we think? Well, we have yet to see anything from Order of the Phoenix, but Warner Bros must be feeling pretty confident.
There has yet to be any announcement from Warner Bros on this info.
