Kate Hudson
Though male moviegoers continue to be tormented with How to Lose a Guy, actress Kate Hudson is sticking to the genre she knows best.
Kate Hudson for Bride Wars
New Regency will finance the upcoming romantic comedy Bride Wars that will serve as a starring vehicle for Kate Hudson.
The project originated out of Miramax but was dropped to the open market once the Weinstein brothers left for bigger and better things, aka The Weinstein Co. To keep things fresh on the story, scribes June Raphael and Casey Wilson have been picked up to write a new draft of the slightly-aged screenplay. What can we say -- nobody likes dust on the pages. Raphael and Wilson do have a bit of comedic background, however, with the comedy sketch show Rode Hard and Put Away Wet and upcoming CBS animated series Creature Comforts.
Hudson has been eying the project ever since the film's departure from Miramax.
The comedy pits best friends against one another when the prospective brides have a wedding-date clash and neither will step aside.
Hudson's character gets put to the test when she must learn How to Lose a Competitive Bride in 10 Days. Well, not exactly, but we all can see where this is going.
