Cars
The selling point extra feature on this DVD may be the "Mater and the Ghost Light" short film, because it’s an all new adventure with the Cars characters. It feels a little rushed. It’s nice to see all the cars again, but they race through Mater’s pranks, exposition and his comeuppance in five minutes. It looks as good as the feature film though.
(2nd) DVD Review: Cars
A feature on the inspiration for Cars has good tidbits from the roadside characters. It actually feels short. Not that I want 60 minutes of home movies, but maybe less of John Lasseter’s rehearsed sales pitch and more of the actual route 66 inspiration.
Deleted scenes have some nice backstory. Obviously not relevant to the plot but sweet to see.
The best extra feature is the easter egg. Someone animated "Boundin’" with Mater hopping around. On the menu screen, wait until a Dinoco logo pops up briefly in the bottom right corner.
