Sacha Baron Cohen with Isla Fisher
Though audiences around the globe are curious to see what character Borat, uhh, Sacha Baron Cohen will come up with next, the actor is looking to add real productions to his to-do list. One such addition will put him under the direction of Tim Burton.
Sacha Baron Cohen for Sweeney Todd
DreamWorks and Warner Bros has picked up Sacha Baron Cohen to play a lead role in Tim Burton's adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim musical, Sweeney Todd.
Similar to Talladega Nights, Sacha Baron Cohen joins Sweeney Todd as a nemesis barber by the name of Signor Adolfo Pirelli. Pirelli teams with the murderess Mrs. Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter) to kill people, grind them up and use them in her meat pies.
The role will allow Cohen to quickly move down to the next project on his to-do list, as it will require only a couple weeks of work.
Tim Burton will direct Sweeney Todd off a script by John Logan.
Sweeney Todd is set to begin filming in London in February. Since the production date is closing in, Todd is next up for Cohen.
After wrapping up with Burton, Cohen will begin working on both Bruno for Universal and Dinner for Schmucks at DreamWorks.
Stay tuned for updates.
