I have received a few emails asking how well Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix did this week considering the release of the film's teaser trailer and, just in case you didn't notice, the film quickly moved up not one but two spots on the CanMag Top Ten.

Time for a Top Ten Update!

Harry Potter Gains in Top Ten Films

The top ten most viewed films on CanMag.Com on September 25th were (stats from same date):

Spider-Man 3 (586,803 views)
Transformers (367,521 views)
Eragon (288,996 views)
Ghost Rider (239,106 views)
DOA: Dead or Alive(160,830 views)
Indiana Jones 4 (117,114 views)
300 (37,155 views)
Alpha Dog (35,223 views)
The Departed (27,462 views)
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (17,091 views)

OK, so first comes the bad news. It turns out that our system was slightly optimistic in its counting. The numbers above are exaggerated and, after discovering the error, we have updated the system with the new numbers below. Hence, each films page views have actually dropped with this update; except for that of Order of the Phoenix and 300. From now on everything should be working again.

Spider-Man 3 (456,180 views)
Transformers (296,242 views)
Eragon (245,714 views)
Ghost Rider (171,470 views)
DOA: Dead or Alive(118,240 views)
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (103,298 views)
Indiana Jones 4 (93,610 views)
300 (84,216 views)
Alpha Dog (27,500 views)
The Good Shepherd (10,792 views)

Harry Potter and 300 had the biggest gains over the past couple of months thanks mostly to new teaser trailers for each film. Even after the update to the system, each film had significant gains. OoTP has moved from #10 to #6 and 300 is preparing to take away the #7 position from Indiana Jones 4.

I am surprised Spider-Man 3 did not come close to its exaggerated count from September. With new posters and the first feature trailer, this film should have made huge gains.

We also removed The Departed from the list which made room for the CIA thriller The Good Shepherd; welcome!

Expect to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix quickly jump to the #5 spot shortly.

That's the updated top 10! Agree or disagree with the most popular* films on CanMag.Com? Let us know!

Stay tuned for updates.

*popularity is judged by how many times each movie page has been opened.
