The Hobbit
The rumors and news around The Hobbit
has grown more scandalous than a high school hookup. After MGM
announced their plans to go forward with the film, Peter Jackson was immediately
forced to respond. Though he claimed to have no time to work on the project,
he later admitted that he planned to get pre-production work done while
filming Lovely Bones.
After rumors began to surface that Jackson was not going to get close to
the project with a lawsuit against New Line still being processed, Jackson
and Walsh both made an announcement that New Line was looking elsewhere
for a person to direct The Hobbit. In short, they were
off the project.
Jackson and Walsh Off The Hobbit
Though many fans see the project as a doomed one
without the influence of Jackson, the latest update does show that big talent
is being sought out. Working on Spider-Man 3 as we speak,
Sam Raimi could be a plausible option.
Word from a reliable source indicates that Sam
Raimi has been approached to direct THE HOBBIT. Since Peter Jackson's (Middle-)earth
shattering news that he is off the project, it seems the Spider-Man director
may step into his place.
While there is no word on Raimi accepting the invitation, it remains to
be seen who, if anyone, will be replacing Peter Jackson!
Sam Raimi as the first choice? Though the director has mastered the comic
book genre, could he possibly create a fantastical epic up to standards
laid down by, well, Peter Jackson?
Well, at least we know the powers that be are thinking big. If this project,
however, hurts any chance of us watching Venom on the bigscreen, New Line
will pay!
