The Hobbit The Hobbit
Frankly, I am sick of having to use this same The Hobbit image (pictured right) over and over again. But, as long as somebody big has something new to say on the troubled film(s), we will continue to update.

Though Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh announced that they were off the project -- execs were looking to other directors -- producer Saul Zaentz seems pretty convinced that The Hobbit won't arrive Jackson-less.

But what about the whole Sam Raimi rumor?

Jackson On The Hobbit?

Showbizdata recently translated an interview between Saul Zaentz and the German website, Elbenwald.de. According to the translation, Peter Jackson might be buying time in order for The Hobbit rights to switch hands.

Zaentz, who acquired the rights to the works of the late Rings writer, J.R.R. Tolkien, in 1976 (the Saul Zaentz Company owns Tolkien Enterprises), in which Zaentz says, "It will definitely be shot by Peter Jackson. ... Next year The Hobbit rights will fall back to my company. I suppose that Peter will wait because he knows that he will make the best deal with us. And he is fed up with the studios: to get his profit share on the Rings trilogy he had to sue New Line. With us, in contrast, he knows that he will be paid fairly and artistically supported without reservation."

Though we still don't know how true this is, the fact that the rights to the Tolkien property will change hands in a year does seem to work with Jackson's schedule. This is probably another reason why other director options are currently being sought out in an accelerated capacity. Only a year to make an epic though? That doesn't seem right.

It would seem that Jackson could return to Hobbiton... for now.

Stay tuned for updates.
