Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will
be one of the many burnable films available
Though most studios have been doing all they can
to make sure that consumers find it impossible to burn a DVD off of a downloaded
movie, Time Warner plans to take the unbeaten path in 2007. According to
their latest announcement, the company will instead allow consumers to download
AND burn their films right to DVD.
That's correct, Superman
Returns and all the later installments of Harry Potter
will be available to download and burn on the day of their DVD release;
and that's just to name a few.
Time Warner to Allow Download-to-Burn
Time Warner, the world's largest media company,
plans to offer services that let consumers download movies from the Internet
that can be burned onto DVDs in 2007, its top executive has said.
The company would likely make these movies available for such services,
including one service with Wal-Mart Stores, on the same day its DVDs go
on sale.
"I expect we will be in a download-to-burn mode in 2007 -- It will
be a part of next year's offerings," Richard Parsons, chief executive
and chairman of Time Warner, said at the third annual Reuters Media Summit
in New York.
Now Time Warner has to face another issue, how
can they control how many DVDs you are burning?
