Though it is not official just yet, The Office star John Krasinski is in negotiations to join Universal Pictures' Leatherheads.
John Krasinski for Leatherheads
It would seem that George Clooney and Renee Zellweger will soon find more company with the addition of John Krasinski to the cast of Leatherheads, a 1920s football romantic comedy that Clooney will direct.
Written by Steven Schiff and Clooney, the story centers on team owner Jimmy "Dodge" Connelly (Clooney), who hires straight-laced college football sensation Carter Rutherford (to be played by Krasinski) to play professionally. The scandalous sport becomes popular and commercialized, and confirmed bachelor Dodge falls for Carter's reluctant fiancee, Lexi (Zellweger).
The only hitch on Krasinski's involvement in Leatherheads is that filming will begin in spring and therefore overlap his schedule on NBC's The Office. Fortunately for him, NBC and Universal are headed by the same company, with the two working together to cure Krasinski's scheduling crisis.
Krasinski has been a busy boy of late with film with numerous appearances set up including Lisense to Wed, The Holiday, Dreamgirls, For Your Consideration and Shrek the Third.
As you may have guessed, you can also see John Krasinksi in The Office on Thursdays on NBC.
