Casino Royale
Though there are still a few who are still against Daniel Craig as the new bond (why?), money speaks louder than words when it comes to the box office for Casino Royale. After opening strong in the U.K., the film has continued to drop only slightly from week to week and steal the box office title for a Bond film from Die Another Day.
Casino Royale Breaks Bond BO Record in U.K.
It turns out that very strong word of mouth was enough to give Casino Royale another $10.5 million at Brit theatres this weekend and push the film's U.K. total to $73.4 million, almost $4 million more than what was earned by Die Another Day by the time it finished its theatrical run. The film only slipped 38% in its third frame.
Thanks to British help, Bond has now taken $196.5 million internationally, a number that constitutes 64% of its $312.4 million take worldwide.
With this number, Casino Royale is only a couple weeks out from breaking the worldwide box office record for a Bond film -- currently held by Die Another Day at $431 million. Somewhere Brosnan is steaming.
Casino Royale is out in theatres now.
