Poster contests for films are as clutch as when Nike had a logo contest for their company. Cheap, gives publicity, and they get a new product out of it when all is said and done. MGM and The Weinstein Company plan to take this approach with the upcoming film Factory Girl. Though we already have been given a poster for the film, it just isn't good enough.
Factory Girl Poster Contest
The Weinstein Company today announced the start of a contest to create the best movie poster for the highly anticipated film Factory Girl, about Andy Warhol’s (Guy Pearce) object of attention, Edie Sedgwick (Sienna Miller). The winner of the contest will have their poster prominently displayed at their hometown theater, gets a private screening of Factory Girl for them and 25 of his/her friends, a full-size print of their poster autographed by the cast, which includes Sienna Miller, Guy Pearce and Hayden Christensen, and a promotion for the poster on the film’s official website, www.factorygirlmovie.net. Factory Girl is a Holly Wiersma production of a L.I.F.T. Productions and The Weinstein Company presentation being theatrically distributed in the U.S. by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM) in limited theaters on December 29th and nationwide in early 2007.
To enter the contest, simply log onto www.factorygirlmovie.net and download the ‘Contest Package’ which will provide you with images from the film, different title treatments, a billing block with logos, a copy of the official Factory Girl poster (for some creative inspiration), a ‘SampleHowTo.pdf’ which gives an overview of how we made the official poster, ‘Treatment Ideas’ which gives different ideas of how to treat an image, and contest rules and directions to build your poster. When finished, simply email your poster to Contest@FactoryGirlMovie.net to submit for judging. Submissions must be emailed by January 31st, 2007 for consideration. Good Luck!
