Primeval
Those that read our updates often know that I am
not the biggest fan of horror films. Not that they scare me or anything
like that -- Mommy! -- but their production value is usually so low that
the only way people see these films is for shock value or, well, because
they are in fact horror movies. So far Touchstone has applied a different
strategy when it comes to Primeval.
Though we have been told that the film has everything to do with a ginormous
crocodile that terrorizes people -- Yum! -- the early media for the film
only suggests the story of a serial killer without any mention of an animal.
Does the first trailer follow this trend? I am going to have to go with
kind of.
Movie Trailer: Primeval
Like all horror films nowadays, Primeval is 'inspired'
by a true story. Hell, I may be 'inspired' to go out and meet a new lady,
but that doesn't mean the story will match up.
The trailer kicks off with the same type of tease. What we are dealing with
is the most prolific serial killer in history. He is elusive, intelligent,
cunning and, to this day, still at large. But then Touchstone breaks the
silence and admits that this killer is NOT human. Do we get to see the killer?
No, which I would have to assume that Touchstone is doing one of two things:
either they want to keep the element of terror from the unknown, or they
are still finishing the CG work on the beast.
I am going to have to go with CG work, but I admit that not showing the
creature does add a bit of curiosity.
Dominic Purcell always seems to shine when on camera,
so the film will obviously take advantage of his character in the hunt.
Orlando Jones also pops in often, but it is hard not to look at his terrified
face and not smile.
Imagine him running from the croc and shouting, "Make seven... Up Yours!"
