Though most of the youth have come to know Gary Oldman as Sirius Black from the Harry Potter franchise, the actor has a filmography full of cool projects including The Backwoods.
Lionsgate Acquires Oldman's The Backwoods
Oldman has actually had some pretty nutty characters in fact. Remember the drug-obsessed cop he played in The Professional or the awkward looking villain in The Fifth Element? Characters that can all be spelled c-r-a-z-y.
Well, he hasn't been doing crazy recently thanks to the Harry Potter franchise (could Sirius be considered a bit nutty?), Batman Begins and lead role in The Backwoods.
We have seen Oldman in all but one, and thanks to Lionsgate, who recently acquired the North American rights to The Backwoods, we can expect to see the latest Oldman installment as well.
The film is set in Basque country in 1978. Two young couples on vacation stumble on a deformed girl in a cabin and, in a tale of mounting violence, anger local villagers when they try to help her.
Virginie Ledoyen, Paddy Considine, Aitana Sanchez-Gijon and Lluis Homar also star.
The Backwoods is another purchase by Lionsgate to help the studio become the top specialist in horror fare.
