Who is going to take a bigger punishing? The villain or the fans?
There is something about the term 'sequel' that
gives producers, directors, production companies, and distributors all massive
hard-ons. Even when a film is [pardon the expression] shit, there is always
a chance for a sequel. Let's pick some examples for instance-- As of now,
it has been told that we maybe can expect a DareDevil 2 [DareDevil
was crap], a Hulk 2 [Hulk was crap], and now there is news of a
Punisher 2 [Crap, crap, crap]. Usually sequels are created to capitalize
on a cash cow, now they are being created for second chances.
The Punisher 2
During the Dallas Comic Convention, Thomas Jane was asked about the circulating
rumor of a Punisher sequel. While most listeners expected a laugh
and 'NO,' Thomas Jane comfortably announces that there will be another Punisher
and there is a script already in the works.
So, the next question is whether or not they had the next villain chosen
or not. Well, they do! It turns out that the first Punisher was
only a setup film to create the villain Jigsaw. If you have seen The
Punisher and cannot think of who this character would be, how about
some one we thought to have died [without any real proof]. Yes, Jigsaw will
be John Saint, the son of John Travolta's character in the first Punisher
movie.
