Eragon
Though Eragon fell short at the domestic box office thanks most in part to 20th Century Fox tearing the book apart to make something that can only be called mediocre, the film was still number one in the international arena.
Box Office: Eragon Takes International BO
With $30.3 million from 6,128 screens overseas, the new fantasy adventure from Fox easily claimed this weekend's No. 1 international box office title.
Eragon finished No. 1 in at least 22 of its territories, displacing Casino Royale from the overall top spot. Who liked the film? Germany, Spain, Latin America, Mexico and Thailand to name a few. In Japan Eragon was only able to come in second. Fox forgot that this wasn't the Year of the Dragon.
Even though Eragon was blasted by the reviews, heavy marketing and fantastical CG was enough to give the film a more than respectable total box office. Eragon earned $53.8 million worldwide this weekend, an amount that even has Stefen Fangmeier brushing sweat from his head. Whew!
One film that continues to kick ass in the worldwide box office is Casino Royale. The film is now only $13.4 million away from breaking the $431.3 million Bond record set by Die Another Day.
Eragon is out in theatres now.
