We have posted links to two new trailers for the second Eastwood Iwo Jima installment, Letters from Iwo Jima. Though the trailers are English, they are obviously still Japanese.
Movie Trailers: Letters from Iwo Jima
Sixty-one years ago, US and Japanese armies met on Iwo Jima. Decades later, several hundred letters are unearthed from that stark island’s soil. The letters give faces and voices to the men who fought there, as well as the extraordinary general who led them.
The new trailer for Letters from Iwo Jima looks terrific and, like Flags of Our Fathers, gives tons of background on some of the soldiers we can expect to encounter. Like the American's in Flags, we get to see some of the Japanese soldiers handling their home lives before the war.
The trailer kicks off with an American woman asking Lt. General Tadamichi Kuribayashi (Ken Watanabe) of the possibility of America and Japan going to war. Kuribayashi responds by explaining that there is no way that could happen.
Nice touch.
