The great Dennis "Cousin Avi" Farina is looking to try his hand in the comedy genre with the help of National Lampoon's Brooke Shields.

Well, not exactly "National Lampoon's Brooke Shields", but the used-to-be-pretty-depressed actress will co-star in Bagboy with Farina.

Farina will play a down-on-his-luck grocery store proprietor and onetime bagging champ who mentors an underdog teen.

The director who brought us Kingpin, Mort Nathan, rewrote the script by Hans Rodionoff and will therefore have the privilege of directing as well.

Also cast are Paul Campbell, Marika Dominczyk, Robert Hoffman, Josh Dean, Nick Lashaway, Wesley Jonathan, Larry Miller, Lisa Darr and Bruce Altman.

National Lampoon has been trying to fully finance its comedies for some time and Bagboy will be the first inhouse feature production.

To get a real taste of Dennis Farina, go out and rent Snatch. Cousin Avi is one of the best characters to ever appear on the bigscreen.
