Constantine When demons know what they want... they go for it.
Even though critic reviews were only par, and Hitch was still able to hold the number one spot, Constantine was a hit over the weekend. Honestly! No, I'm not just showing favoritism to the Hellblazer adaptation just because I greatly enjoyed it [read Constantine review].

Constantine sequel a Go

First off, even though Constantine was unable to outpull Hitch in the box-office numbers, it still broke some box-office records. Constantine had box-office sales of $34.6 million for the four-day President's Day holiday weekend. These numbers make Consantine the biggest opening ever for an R-rated film during any four-day holiday. And to go one step further-- Constantine was a company best for Warner Bros. for the President's Day weekend.

So, what should we do now? A sequel of course!

According to Hollywoodreporter, the execs over at Warner Bros. were more than pleased with the first weekend showing of Constantine. Here is a little of what they had to say:

Across town at Warners, executives were likewise upbeat about the debut of "Constantine." "Considering that this was an unknown quantity, we're obviously really pleased with the results and look forward to the sequel," president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman said. "The exits were excellent, which leads us to conclude that the film will continue to do well," he noted. Co-produced with Village Roadshow, "Constantine" skewed slightly more male with 56% but was equally balanced in the age demographic with a 50-50 ratio of those older and younger than 25.

Again, I would like to report that I greatly enjoyed Constantine and look forward to the sequel.
