Zimmer Scores Pirates

Hans Zimmer, probably one of the top 3 best movie composers out there at this moment, has been picked up by Gore Verbinski and Jerry Bruckheimer for the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean sequels.

Hans Zimmer Replaces Klaus Badelt

Klaus Badelt did the Pirates score for Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. While the music was awesome, it was just recycled from another film Badelt worked on-- Equilibrium. After seeing Equilibrium I had tried to get the OST music on CD. I was disappointed to see that Badelt decided not to release one. Then, after watching Pirates, I immediately knew why; Equilibrium music became Pirates music. However, now that the music has been recycled and fully heard by audiences, I guess it seemed time to go with a new composer and score.

Hans Zimmer usually goes hand-in-hand with Bruckheimer. Zimmer is credited with the scores for Black Hawk Down, Pearl Harbor, The Rock and Crimson Tide. The theme music from Crimson Tide is still used in at least one film or movie trailer each year. One of Zimmer's best scores, even though not tied with Bruckheimer, is his OST for The Last Samurai.

I greatly enjoy both of these composers and can't wait to 'hear' what is next.
