With Bryan Singer still working on Superman
V, it seems that I am going to have to let go of the dream
of him directing X3 [X-Men
3]. However, 20th Century Fox is beginning to shorten
the list on who will become the next director for everyone's favorite group
of mutants.
X-Men 3 Seeks Director
Well, even though 20th Century Fox claims they are slimming the list for
acceptable directors for X3, it seems that another name was just
added. According to filmforce, Zack Snyder is the latest possible candidate
for the next X-Men sequel. Zack Snyder is known for directing the
zombie horror Dawn of the Dead. With Zack, 20th Century Fox says
they have shortened the list down to five or six. Whew! Better than seven
or eight!
Besides the search for a director, Zak Penn has told the press that he has
been brought on to write up a worthy X-Men script. Zak has had
previous experience with the X-Men films, as he was credited for
the story of X-Men: United [X2]. Penn acknowledges the
difficulties of giving all the main characters [which number up to 14] enough
screen time. This fact has been noted to be one of the reasons why some
of the old cast will not be making an appearance [unless a cameo] for X-Men
3.
