Now that V
for Vendetta has started production, Warner Bros has stepped
it into high gear to get a little warm-up press for the film starring Natalie
Portman and James Purefoy.
All On Vendetta
The official V for Vendetta site has recently posted a ton of interview
footage from the cast and crew for the film. My favorite clips come from
Natalie Portman, as she attempts to explain the premise of the film and
her own role. Natalie claims, "it's a very human story... and because
its human its not black and white, it's much more complicated and ambiguous."
Having read the graphic novel by Alan Moore, I think Portman hit it on the
head. Through out the entire book it was hard to tell if 'V' was actually
a good guy or a bad guy. Was 'V's' motives pure? Another great aspect is
that the book pushes anarchy, but also rips on the problems that result
from anarchy. Talk about a mind f@ck.

Another aspect to the interview that proved the strong commitment behind
V for Vendetta was when Natalie Portman was asked about the period
of the graphic novel where her character is subjected to torture. During
this period, Eve [the girl character Portman will play] loses weight and
has her head shaved. Natalie Portman did confirm that she will shave her
head when that scene is ready to shoot.
The last bit that stuck out in my mind is the interview with James Purefoy, who will be playing the part of 'V'. The movie will never show Purefoy's face, as he will always
be wearing the mask [just as in the graphic novel].
Well, enough about me talking about it, head over and check out the interview
clips for V for Vendetta.
