Scarlett Johansson in The Island
Yesterday we were able to post a clip taken from
The Island
that premiered on Access Hollywood. It turns out that clip was a shorter
version of The Island trailer, that has been released today!
The Island Trailer
I don't know what it is about movie trailers lately,
but this first The Island trailer does not truly give any premise
to the film. The only thing the trailer states is 'where life is made to
order', giving a hint that something really messed up is occurring on 'The
Island' or elsewhere. What the trailer does do, however, is show off tons
of the cool cinematography and sweeping shots that we will witness on the
films release.
Just like the Red
Eye trailer, I feel that too much has been left out, with
no real explanation of the film [more lenient on The Island, as
it is a teaser trailer]. So here is The Island synopsis to help
fill in some gaps.
The film takes place in the mid 21st century, during a time of major advancement. Lincoln [played by Ewan McGregor] is a member of a controlled society where he only wishes to go to a place only known as 'The Island.' This place, according to Lincoln, is the last remaining uncontrolled, and uncontaminated spot for human existence. However, Lincoln's plans are crushed when he discovers that he, and all other members of the facility in which he lives, is a clone whose sole purpose is to provide spare parts for the original donor. It is only a matter of time before Lincoln will be 'harvested,' another term for destroyed. Lincoln's only solution is to find a way to escape before time runs out.
