Howard's next
According to Variety,
Ron Howard has signed on to direct the Paramount Pictures epic about the
conquest of Mexico in 1520-- The Serpent and the Eagle.
Howard and Grazer Ride the Eagle
Along with Ron Howard, comes Brian Grazer to producer
The Serpent and the Eagle. Hans Beimler and Robert Wolfe, who had the story focus on the Spanish conqueror Hernando Cortez, who plundered the Aztec nation with the help of a fellow Aztec princess-turned-slave, originally wrote the script for the film.
Even though Paramount Pictures has purchased the script, they are far from
content with it. In order to polish it up, they have picked up Brian Helgeland
to draft a finished copy of the script. So, do not expect production for
this film any time soon.
Ron Howard has a couple films on his plate, but does mention that The
Serpent and the Eagle is one of his top priorities.
Stay tuned for updates.
