Shyamalan on the set of Signs
With the slight fall-off of Shyamalan films [The
Village being the worst], Shyamalan has packed his bag
and moved from Disney to Warner Bros. Pictures. With this change, M. Night
Shyamalan has announced his next upcoming film project.
Shyamalan Likes Nymphs
Shyamalan's next film will be a fantasy thriller
titled Lady in the Water. The story will follow a building superintendent
when he discovers a type of sea nymph swimming in the apartment pool. For
now, that is all we know about the film. How Shyamalan is going to make
a thriller out of this, one can only guess... he's freakin M. Night Shyamalan.
However, we do know that Lady in the Water has already started
to cast characters [can we expect to see Bruce Willis?] in hopes to quickly
begin production. The film has a set release date for July 21, 2006.
When it comes to the separation of Shyamalan and
Disney, TheHollywoodReporter
states that their split was completely mutual and the two had already ended
their contract some time ago.
When asked, M. Night Shyamalan had this to say about his recent move:
Since we met a few years ago, Alan and Jeff (Robinov, Warners' president of production) have gone out of their way to offer me the best on their studio slates time after time. I felt their personal connection to my movies. 'Lady in the Water' is a personal movie with a big idea, and it seems just perfect for Warner Bros. I'm thrilled they responded to the story, and we all can't wait to get started.
