Monster
According to TheHollywoodReporter,
New Line Cinema has acquired the film rights to the Japanese manga comic
book series Monster. Besides acquiring the film rights, New Line
has already put the production wheels in motion and will have Neil Kaplan,
Pen Densham and John Watson of Trilogy Entertainment to produce.
New Line for a Monster Movie
Monster tells the story of a young successful
brain surgeon who is forced to choose between the life of the mayor and
the life of a young boy. The doctor chooses the boy, only to find out later
that this same boy is an expert murderer. The doctor is then given the mission
of tracking down this boy in order to solve a conspiracy.

Urasawa is a manga master in Japan, where "Monster" has been adapted into an animated television series and has spawned 18 volumes as a manga series. The "Monster" mangas have sold more than 25 million copies in Japan, and it has a strong following in Asia and Europe.
