Beth Rants on Clorox

Clorox Bleach Clorox
Warning: this is not "news" (or at least it shouldn't be), it is simply an observation that seems so obvious, but needs to be stated somewhere apparently.

In my short time in writing for CanMag, many annoying commercials with questionable ethics have come and gone. I have restrained from writing on them because I wanted to only write on interesting topics about which I could be mature. Oh well.

Clorox Bleach Commercial is Complete BS

So it isn't perhaps that the new Clorox Bleach commercial that tries to convince you that you need to bleach dead skin cells is any worse than say, the Saturn commercial that implies (never directly states…because it would be a lie) that hybrids have less horsepower than most cars (in fact the Honda hybrid has more than the advertised horsepower on said Saturn commercial), it is perhaps instead the timing if the commercial. It comes (for me) after almost twenty-six years of watching this crap.

I'm sure most have seen it: women (just like you and me!) hold a bottle of Clorox Bleach and naively inform the knowledgeable disembodied voice that, no; surely their clothes are clean. The announcer tells them, no! In fact your clothes have dead skin cells in them.

Oh shit. Really?

Well, the no longer innocent dupes of the bleach-less laundry room are shocked. You mean that (pointing to a bag of dead skin cells) is in my clothes? And the only thing that gets it out is Clorox Bleach?

Perhaps next we should start bleaching our skin. I hear there are also skin cells there, both dead and alive. Maybe we should just dump the stuff into our drinking water.

I hate those people who say, "people are stupid" as if they themselves are not in fact people, so I will not say it.
