Not that we can possibily need any more hype to
convince us that we should be in line by midnight on the night of July 15th
to get our hands on the new Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the
Half-Blood Prince, but this baby is now breaking records.
HBP Pre-Order Sales Frightening
A while back we had reported that Amazon's top
pre-orders were Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince sitting
at number one and the children version sitting at number two. Obviously,
JK Rowling is sitting in a room somewhere, probably drinking a pint, shouting
cha-ching cha-ching [imagine a fist pumping too]. Well, Barnes & Noble
have backed this statement by announcing in their latest press
release that pre-orders for the new Potter novel are
skyrocketing and that they could top over one-million before the book even
releases. Holy Muggle Crap! Er, I mean-- cha-ching, cha-ching!
Here is a little bit off the press
release from Barnes & Noble:
"The Harry Potter series has shattered all records in publishing history, and the enormous amount of pre-orders to date confirm that the latest Harry Potter title will be the most popular yet," said Steve Riggio, Chief Executive Officer, Barnes & Noble. "In fact, we predict that our pre-orders will top one million."
Barnes & Noble is offering the title for the discounted price of $17.99, 40 percent off the list price ($16.19 for Barnes & Noble Members). The compact disc and audiocassettes for the unabridged book will also be available. Customers can place pre-orders at any Barnes & Noble store or online at Barnes & Noble.com (www.bn.com).
I just want to point out [*cough* Rawling, are
you listening?] that my birthday is on July 17th, only one day after the
release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. How cool would
it be if I was able to get this puppy a little bit early in the mail as
a nice 'Happy Muggle Birthday' from JK Rowling or Arthur A. Levine Books
[the publisher].
