The latest issue of Entertainment
Weekly has a ton of interesting stuff in it, including a look at Harry
Potter and the Half-Blood Prince with features and a review. However,
be warned, there are about two pages that take such an in-depth look at
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince that it is impossible to
avoid details such as who died and who killed who; so tread lightly through
this issue.
Half-Blood Prince
One of the first HBP aspects to point
out in EW is the review of the book. The writer, Christopher Paolini, though
admitting that Half-Blood Prince is not his favorite, gave the
book an overall score of an A-. Check out a snippet of the review below:
I'll be honest, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince isn't my favorite
J.K. Rowling book-- that distinction goes to The Goblet of Fire-- but it
ranks right up there.
The new tone is disquieting because it's so different from what came before.
Yet if Harry and his world didn't continue to evolve, they would soon become
nostalgic curiosities. It's heartening, both as an author and reader, to
see that J.K. Rowling is brave enough to experiment with her beloved series,
and that she has remained true to the emotional and physical development
of her characters.
Besides the review of Harry Potter and the
Half-Blood Prince, the latest issue of EW also contains a few columns
that discuss the book and what actors that the magazine would like to see
play as the new characters from HBP including Horace Slughorn [Bob
Hoskins]. Actually, the column 'Casting Spells', which deals with their
top choices for new actors in Half-Blood Prince, is one of the
best in the entire HBP article. But, remember, this issue is filled
with SPOILERS.
