The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim?
Published January 5, 2005 in SPORTS

Just LA? Why not the World?
Bud Selig, MLB Commissioner, is bringing the new year with big business. He has approved a name change for the Anaheim Angels. Angels owner, Artie Moreno, wishes to change his team's name to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The latest contract agreement demands that the city's name be in the team's name. Moreno feels that he is complying with the contract, however the city not only disagrees, but disapproves as well. The city has filed a lawsuit on the matter, however, speculation suggests that Moreno with not be separated from his new marketing strategy.
Wow! Mr. Moreno is a great business man; trying to capitalize on the greater Los Angeles market and trying to capture its Hispanic population. But shouldn't someone tell him that virtually everyone one in L.A. is a Dogers fan; of those fans virtually none of them are fair-weather fans.
Moreno is taking the Anaheim Angels out of Anaheim and moving them into the dead zone of Southern California. Who will be rooting for them- the fans that were rejected, or the fans that don't want them?
