Louis XIV poster.
The latest rock and roll band to call Southern
California their home is finding success with a lighter load. Louis
XIV has recently been signed to Atlantic Records and are on schedule
to release an EP, Illegal Tender, on January 25 2005 and an album
in March.
Louis XIV Set to Release Illegal Tender
Jason, Brian, Mark and James make up the band and bring more to the table than just some rocking melodies and catchy riffs. Brian is a schooled piano player who received classical training as an adolescent, and Jason claims to have been writing songs, passionately, since he was three years old.
Though they have only been together for just over a year, they have put out a couple of EP's, which they appreciatively recorded free of charge after spending all of the money just to get to the recording studio in Paris. Jason also credits himself with the ability and talent to master and produce records, which he has been doing for the band, until being signed to a major label and now no longer needs to afford any effort towards that.
If you live in the San Diego, CA area you might have heard Louis
XIV on 91x radio, or even been lucky enough to have caught them
at "Street Scene" (an annual weekend music festival held in the Gas-lamp
District of San Diego). Up until now they have just been thankful for the
radio play and small venue shows they have been playing, but with Atlantic
records behind them and a new album on the horizon, we should all be stuffing
our ears with ear plugs because these guys are rocking.
They have currently displayed their great ability to rock a college party with their melodic power chords, catchy riff's and all about girls' lyrics; their music is definitely fun, and though their sound doesn't parallel O.A.R., I get the same sensation when listening to them. You know, that sensation you get when you are listening to good old young adult music-fun but not serious.
Illegal Tender is filled with good rock music that will satisfy
you hunger for fun, girl-loving rock and with the talents that these guys
are packing, they should mature into a rock band for the years-Lets listen
and see!
If you would like to catch some of their music before their EP hits stores,
you can go to www.kcrw.com
