Holy Guacamole, I Think We’re Going To Need A Super Bowl

Superbowl It's almost Super Bowl time

With the 'Big Game' just days away, there are more than just the players getting ready. Super Bowl parties have come to be an almost national past time in their own right, and this year is absolutely no exception. Partygoers and hosts take zero shortcomings in efforts to provide more than an abundance of food and beverages for their friends and guests.

The Superbowl Will be a Blowout... Literally

In recent years, one particular commodity has seen some astronomical sales; so much that Super Bowl Sunday is one of its largest consuming days of the year. What is it you ask? None other than the never forgotten at the supermarket, but rarely remembered else where avocado.

Vice President of marketing for the California Avocado Commission, Ms. Jan Delyser, expects fans in the first row at Alltel Stadium to be able to reach out onto the field with chip in hand and shovel up the biggest scoop of guacamole the chip can hold-over and over I might add (not really, but it could happen). "43.8 million pounds of avocados are expected to be consumed during the "Big Game." That's enough avocados to fill Alltel Stadium's field 10.5 feet deep in guacamole." Holy Guacamole!

Just because the game is going to be a blowout, doesn't mean your dip needs to cause one too (Super bowl Sunday is proud to be host to the most-toilet-flushes day; with the majority during halftime).

The secret ingredient that will work in anyone's homemade guacamole is, in fact, Del Taco's mild sauce. Just add a couple of packets to you receipt and get out of the way, because that guy who nobody knows will be eyeing it like a patriot shooting down an eagle.

Don't worry though, the influx of avocado consumption, does mean that there will be a shortage after. In fact, the timing of the Super bowl couldn't be better; Hass Avocado's (which are by far the most flavorful) are just coming into season. Though not seen as unfortunate, the season will see a smaller overall production this year compared to recent years. The plus side is that this season's harvest will see larger avocados and better quality.

For great guacamole recipes, you can go to the California Avocado's Commission's website: www.avocado.org.

Oh, and yes the Patriots are going to win with a score of 37-20, with the Philadelphia Eagles picking up a touchdown and field goal in the last five minutes of the game; so yes, a blowout.
