Now on Blu Ray, Say Anything is totally clear for the heartbreak it contains. Fox did a nice restoration job so there’s no grain anymore unless it’s absolutely necessary, so it never becomes unnatural either.
Say Anything on Blu-Ray
There’s gritty detail and bright colors. You’ll notice the chipped wood panels, the frizzy ‘80s hair, the stucco ceilings, robe fuzz, window scuffs, the details in the backyard house party and neighborhood streets. Colors that pop include kickboxing pads, the pink robe, the yellow counter at a diner.
Actually, the one scene that’s muddy and fuzzy is the pivotal boombx at dawn shot. That’s the only one but it’s a key shot. Oh well, the rest of the movie looks so awesome you can interpret your own details there.
