Gilligan's Island
Three hour tour my ass. Warner Bros, who has been on a huge remake slash adaptation kick the past week or two, has decided to bring Gilligan's Island to the silverscreen.
Gilligan's Island Movie Coming
Why watch a remake when we still have re-runs? You got me. Besides, a remake sounds sort of creepy.
The plans are for a contempo take on the well-known premise and characters, with the studio and the Schwartzes' blessing Copeland's initial idea for the screenplay. Roven told Daily Variety that he's hoping to start production as early as next year but won't move forward on seeking a director or cast until Copeland's script is completed.
"The characters are so good," Roven added. "We think it's going to be a great story to transport these cultural icons to the modern day."
The original show saw solid ratings between 1964 and 1967, but ended up leaving the castaways stranded, as the series was not renewed for a fourth season. Which I still think is awesome.
