Captain America
Marvel Entertainment is keeping their options open for First Avenger: Captain America with Channing Tatum being the most recent name added to the list as possible contenders to play the title character. For good measure, Keira Knightley has been approached too; but not for the title role, of course.
Channing Tatum Patriotic Enough for Captain America?
So we have Wilson Blethel, Mike Vogel, Chris Evans, Garrett Hedlund and now Channing Tatum for the part of Captain America. Though Tatum is the newest addition, that doesn't mean he's on the top of the list. Inside sources still claim that Garrett Hedlund is Marvel Entertainment's current favorite. Tatum on the other hand has only been approached and has not seen a copy of the script.
One of the er, issues holding Marvel back is Tatum's ability to look weak and frail before becoming the superhero. How frail? We're talking about 98 pounds frail. The notion would mean that Tatum would have to drop some pounds to play Steve Rogers.
While the studio tries to get over that hump, they are also seeking Captain's flame Betsy Ross, with Keira Knightley the first name added to what we can expect to be a growing list.
