The Fantastic Mr. Fox
I loved Fantastic Mr. Fox when I saw it in theaters and couldn’t wait to get a copy of the film on Blu-Ray. I got it and, while I definitely prefer the HD format, 20th Century Fox is nice enough to give you both the DVD and Digital Copy along with the Blu-Ray copy; so extra kudos for that!
Review: Fantastic Mr. Fox
Since I’m trying to keep my raving over this Blu-Ray under control – and avoid saying cliché lines like, “It’s fantastic!” – I’ll start off with one personal complaint. I don’t know who to blame, possibly the internet, but those of us who kept up with all the media updates until the film’s (theatrical) release have seen just about every extra feature that comes attached with the combo package. Don’t get me wrong, there is quite a bit of cool stuff here, but I’ve seen it all online previously. Well, I guess it’s cool enough to watch again in HD.
And speaking of HD, this film looks absolutely incredible! Considering that the film is a well-lit stop-motion classic, the HD quality allows you to marvel at all the tiny details. Every strand of hair on each of the er, dolls(?), is crystal clear. So sharp in fact that it almost becomes distracting. Fortunately Fantastic Mr. Fox has so much charm that these tiny details won’t take up too much of your time; unless of course you want them too.
