Natalie Portman
Ever since critics had their minds blown by Natalie Portman in the recent festival screenings of Black Swan, the studios have been attempting to woo her for big projects. Up first to bat is Warner Bros, who is hoping the actress will join Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity
Natalie Portman for Gravity
Directed by Alfonso Cuaron, Gravity centers on a woman stranded on a space station after satellite debris slams into it and wipes out the rest of the crew. Robert Downey Jr. has already agreed to play the smaller role of "man on Earth," but it will be Portman who gets the title role; as long as she signs onto it.
Warner Bros. and Cuaron are so excited about the idea of having Portman star, that they offered her the role without a screen test. The studio was initially contemplating Scarlett Johansson, but Portman won them over; a perk for the studio considering that her pay grade is a whole bunch lower than Johansson's.
