Dune
And now I'm conflicted. While I couldn't quite understand why they'd want to remake the adaptation of Dune -- I find it to be a sci fi classic -- Hollywood continues to move forward anyway. While the last few years have been spotted with comicbook adaptations, the next couple should be chalk full of remakes based on already-good films/adaptations. What I do like about the idea is that Peter Berg will direct.
Peter Berg Hits the Dunes
Peter Berg is the new Michael Bay -- a director that polarizes viewers. Some people hate his style, others love him. Fortunately I'm the latter, and I think that a director of his style could make a great Dune installment.
MTV Movie Blog has confirmed that Peter Berg will direct the once-rumored Dune remake.
Ladies and gentlemen, the next huge sci-fi franchise has a director. During an interview with “The Kingdom” director Peter Berg, he confirmed the rumor that “Dune” is coming and that he’s the one that will helm it. Calling the plans for him to direct “a done deal,” Berg told me that “if it weren’t for the writer’s strike, we’d be in it right now.”
Thanks to the ongoing WGA strike, the production isn't remotely close to having a script.
Peter Berg claims that he is a "big big big" fan of the book, so hopefully he will remember that the family houses in Dune are not limited to Atreides and Harkonnen. How about we let House Ordos (from the game) into the action?
