The production schedule for Stephen Daldry's The Reader was looking good when it started late last year. Complications, however, have recently arisen with Kidman expected to begin filming this month.

It turns out that Kidman's pregnancy won't mix properly with the film's production, as she has opted to pull out of the project. Maybe she should have thought of pulling out when er, nevermind.
Kidman and husband Keith Urban confirmed Monday that they were expecting a baby.
Based on the novel by Bernhard Schlink, The Reader tells the story of a teen who falls for an enigmatic older woman in postwar Germany.
Even with the loss of Kidman, the film's production is expected to remain on schedule.
Kidman will leave a cast that includes Ralph Fiennes and David Kross.
