Charlize Theron
Talk about finding a great match. Not that I have anything against Maria Bello (History of Violence) -- she's hot -- but having Charlize Theron and Viggo Mortensen acting side by side is sure to draw both sexes to the theaters.
Charlize Theron for The Road
Charlize Theron has been picked up to co-star with Viggo Mortensen in the adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's bestselling novel The Road for 2929 Entertainment.
The Road centers on a man who embarks on a nightmarish road trip after a nuclear explosion in an attempt to transport his son to safety while fending off cannibals.
Aussie helmer John Hillcoat will direct off a screenplay by Joe Penhall.
Dimension Films is already onboard to distribute domestically.
Theron, who we last saw in the flop known as In the Valley of Elah, will play the wife of Mortensen's character. The role is small, as she will mostly be seen in a flashback. Why would she agree to such a part? Well, not only is she a fan of the book, but she has been eager to reteam with producer Nick Wechsler, who she hasn't worked with since 2000's The Yards.
Theron has a couple projects coming our way including The Burning Plain, Hancock and Sleepwalking.
