Cloverfield
While a sequel to Cloverfield has now been discussed on multiple occasions, I never thought it would actually become a plausible idea. Hard to believe, I know, but Paramount is currently wooing director Matt Reeves to return for a handheld sequel.
Cloverfield Sequel Possible
Paramount is moving so fast on the sequel that Cloverfield 2 could become Reeves next production. He is also lined up with GreeneStreet Films to direct The Invisible Woman. I for one am hoping Reeves takes the time to do The Invisible Woman first.
Don't get me wrong, I liked Cloverfield, but the originality could get burned out real fast at this rate. Besides, aren't we short of writers at the moment?
The Invisible Woman is a Hitchcock-style thriller that probes the mind of a former beauty queen who turns to a life of crime to protect her family. Reeves will direct off a script he wrote. As expected, he will also produce with J.J. Abrams.
"Matt has created a truly original and compelling character and story," said GreeneStreet's Penotti.
With Cloverfield turning royalty-free profit the opening weekend, expect Paramount to do all they can to squeeze a sequel into Reeves schedule. Creatively I don't understand it, but it still makes a lot of sense; or should I say dough?
