Wolfman
Talk about dodging a silver bullet. After watching Mark Romanek step out of the director's chair for The Wolfman due to creative differences, Universal Pictures has moved quickly to find a replacement.
Joe Johnston to Direct The Wolfman
Joe Johnston has stepped in to replace Romanek as director of the $100 million thriller, The Wolfman, which is set to begin production this March in London.
Benicio Del Toro has long been attached to play the title character, but Romanek's exit comes after the studio firmed up Anthony Hopkins to play the title character's father, and for Emily Blunt to play the female lead.
The quick response by Universal Pictures helped the studio to salvage yet another production facing trouble. The studio previously rescued State of Play by signing Russell Crowe to replace Brad Pitt in the starring role, after Pitt bowed out only weeks before filming was to begin.
Johnston last directed Hidalgo and Jurassic Park III.
