The problem with hiring sisters is that when one goes, they both go. You know, like they're attached by the hip. The case goes for My Sister's Keeper, with New Line Cinema looking for quick replacements for the Fanning sisters.
Fanning Sisters Get Replaced for My Sister's Keeper
Abigail Breslin has been picked up to replace Elle Fanning and Sofia Vassilieva is in negotiations to take the place of Dakota Fanning in the New Line drama My Sister's Keeper.
Directed by Nick Cassavetes, My Sister's Keeper tells the story of a young girl who sues for emancipation from parents who conceived her as a genetic match so she could prolong the life of her ailing older sister. Vassilieva is in talks to play the older sister.
Cameron Diaz plays the mother of the girls, a tough lawyer who takes her own case in court. Alec Baldwin plays the attorney who represents the child.
Just when you thought there couldn't be any more big names in this film, Joan Cusack will also have a starring role.
And why did the Fanning sisters walk from My Sister's Keeper? According to inside sources, Dakota Fanning balked at a request that she shave her head for the part. The idea of a hairless dome caused her and her sister to quickly withdraw from the production.
Thanks to the even quicker casting, production is still on track to begin March.
We can next see Breslin opposite Ryan Reynolds in Definitely, Maybe.
