To be directed by Scottish helmer David MacKenzie, Spread chronicles the adventures of a serial womanizer (Kutcher) with Leigh playing a thwarted lover.
MacKenzie should make a perfect fit for the production, as the director is known for sexually charged dramas including Young Adam and Asylum.
Filming is expected to begin later this month in Los Angeles.
