Getting Started with American Idol Season 7

Finally, we have narrowed the field to get down to competition. One can only stand watching so many of the bad auditions.
Hollywood week was harrowing. I felt as if I were watching a soap – the perpetual crying – girls and guys. Yikes! I don’t recall seeing such an emotional bunch. Seven of the 24 contestants are teenagers. This is, on average, a very young group.
American Idol's 24 Contestants
The contestants in the order they were chosen:
Carly Smithson – 24, Dublin, Ireland (now living in San Diego) – auditioned last season, but had visa issues
David Cook – 25, Tulsa, OK
Amanda Overmyer – 23, Mulberry, IN – very Janis Joplin
David Archuleta – 17, Salt Lake City, UT – also plays piano – cute in a boy band way
Kristy Lee Cook – 24, Selma, OR
Brooke White - 24, Van Nuys, CA – also plays keyboard – so Carole King
Danny Noriega – 18, Azusa, CA – effervescent
Alexandrea Lushington – 16, Atlanta, GA – played piano from age 7
Ramiele Malubay – 20, Miramar, FL – plays piano and guitar
Michael Johns – 29, Los Angeles & Atlanta – very Freddie Mercury
Syesha Mercado – 21, Miami, FL – seems like the complete package
Robbie Corrico – 26, Melbourne, FL

Garrett Haley – 17, Elida, OH
Kady Malloy – 18, Houston, TX – has “the look”
Chikezie Eze – 22, Inglewood, CA
Amy Davis – 25, Cedar Lake, IN
Alaina Whitaker – 16, Tulsa, OK – will be compared to Carrie Underwood
Jason Yeager – 28, Grand Prairie, TX – plays guitar and piano
Asia’h Epperson – 19, Joplin, MO
David Hernandez – 24, Phoenix, AZ – natural performer Colton
David Berry – 17, Staunton, VA – has a musical theater style
Joanne Borgella –25, Hoboken, NJ (Sinatra’s home)
I found some of the contestants have had much more air time than others. I am not sure if that puts anyone at an advantage. It is only fair that they start on equal footing.
Well, fans, the fun begins Tuesday night on Fox.
