Chaos
I wrote of Wesley Snipes' straight to video movies and Jason Statham still has a few In the Name of the Kings in him. Ryan Phillippe can do indie movies without distribution, but all three of them and they couldn't get Chaos into theaters? That piques my morbid curiosity.
On DVD: Chaos
As straight to video dumpees go, Chaos is actually a respectable cop drama. It knows the producer and has a moderately smart plan with a formidable foe. Snipes gets to show some personality as a charismatic villain. Maybe the story centered around a bank heist was too similar to Lionsgate's own The Bank Job so they just picked their favorite and dumped the other.
There's some shooting and chasing, rogue cop behavior, CSI techniques and minor brawling, but no martial arts. There are some good backstory twists. Chaos is perfectly okay, which for the direct to video market is four stars. Statham has done a lot worse. Ghosts of Mars anyone?
