10,000 B.C.
There seems to be a new trend going on here. While many critics will claim that their opinion(s) still have some sway, there are many times where the moviegoers don't seem to listen. Take for instance 10,000 B.C., a film that was undeterred by what looked to be 10,000 bad reviews.
10,000 B.C. Counts to #1 at the Box Office
Note to self: Escapism is still where it's at. Though 10,000 B.C. has likely forced some brilliant scientist to burn his soon to be working time machine, the film, with its historical inaccuracies and all, still had enough pull to take the number one spot over the weekend. The effects-driven adventure from Roland Emmerich took in $35.7 million during its opening weekend.
With the help of its Wednesday opening overseas, 10,000 B.C. has earned close to $61 million worldwide.
With 300 making March the hot month last year, there wasn't really anything exciting out there save 10,000 B.C. Disney's College Road Trip opened up to a yawn-worthy $14 million while Semi-Pro plummeted 64% during its second weekend.
One film that deserved a few more viewers was The Bank Job. Though considered a great heist film by many, the film opened to a weak $5.7 million. It looks like audiences figured Jason Statham would just be running around kicking things again; which is definitely not the case.
