Kick-Ass
It is damn near impossible not to be a huge fan of Matthew Vaughn. He's got a filmography stronger than that of Guy Ritchie (even without Swept Away) with crime capers such as Lock, Stock, Snatch -- both of which were with Guy Ritchie -- and Layer Cake under his belt. The director slash producer slash writer also delivered a terrific fantastical adaptation with Stardust.
It looks like Vaughn is looking to add to his impressive filmography with Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.'s graphic novel, Kick-Ass.
Matthew Vaughn to Direct Kick-Ass
The good people at AICN have learned that Matthew Vaughn is looking to write and direct an adaptation of the (what sounds to be) action-packed graphic novel, Kick-Ass.
And now, if my sources are correct, it looks like Matthew Vaughn (LAYER CAKE, STARDUST) is going to be writing and directing the film version. He’s evidently holed up with Jane Goldman (his writing partner on STARDUST) right now and working hard to get the script right. Considering Millar’s only got the first two issues out at this point, this may turn out to be a case like Edgar Wright and SCOTT PILGRIM, where Vaughn is working directly with Millar, already privy to where the series is headed.
Though I have never heard of the graphic novel before, the title and cover are alone with the purchase.
