Brad Pitt
The supply of novels worth adapting must be getting low, as Paramount Pictures has preemptively bought David Grann's manuscript Lost City of Z. Brad Pitt is onboard to produce the upcoming feature adaptation through his Plan B banner as a potential starring vehicle.
Brad Pitt for Lost City of Z
Grann's soon to be released nonfiction book follows British explorer Col. Percy Harrison Fawcett, who was attempting to find the so-called City of Z when he and his party disappeared in 1925. Over the next 70 years, scores of explorers tried and failed to retrace Fawcett's path, including a 1996 expedition of Brazilian adventurers.
If Pitt were to star, he'd play Col. Fawcett.
Though I would normally wonder why Paramount would be so interested in such a non-fiction story, it turns out that they are just following the popular kid. The studio agreed to purchase the manuscript only after Pitt express interest in it.
Pitt can be seen in a couple other projects this year including the Coen brothers' Burn After Reading and David Fincher's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
